Money and Bank Accounts

Here is a quick overview regarding money and bank accounts in Germany.

Keep in mind that some of these steps might take a little bit of time (you will need to look for a flat and register with the authorities before being able to open a bank account in most cases), so it can be good to come to Germany with cash on you to cover some of your expenses after your arrival.

Cash is still the king in Germany, so don't be surprised if people tell you you can't pay with card in certain places. (Most of the big super market chains are fine though!)
